A moment of harmony and a touch of history at a former soap factory

Commercial premises are increasingly becoming an integral part of a company’s overall brand. Hetkinen, a manufacturer of natural cosmetics, interior products, and fragrances, wanted to open a store where its values, story, and vibe come to life.

“All our products are inspired by Finnish nature, especially the forest. We use a variety of wood materials in our products,” says Mona Isotupa, founder and CEO of Hetkinen.

“Hetkinen has two locations. We produce wood in Fiskars, and actually, here in our new premises in Turku, we have everything else: production, online store warehouse, and the shop,” Isotupa explains.

At the new premises at Turku Saippua Center, customers experience the company and its products “with all their senses.” The pine-scented store, the Hetkinen Gallery, exudes peace and harmony.

Major Transformation

At the entrepreneur’s request, the premises underwent massive renovations. Among other things, a large loft was built, allowing production and the online store warehouse to be in the same space as the shop.

“The premises are also important in terms of business partner visits,” Isotupa says.

Finnish natural cosmetics are trending in Asia, where the company’s target markets are located. Hence, Hetkinen gets visitors from Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong.

Following in the Footsteps of Soap Masters

Kielo’s historic location at Turku Saippua Center is a wonderful part of Hetkinen’s story, as the company continues the tradition of soap making in its own way.

“I love stories and greatly appreciate this architecture, as we were looking for a unique space. In this building, a former soap factory, history comes alive,” Isotupa says.

Another attractive feature of the soap factory business hub is the sense of community; Saippua Center forms a complex that brings together various entrepreneurs.

“There are many good partners under the same roof,” Isotupa continues.

The new premises have received positive feedback from both employees and customers. Kielo offers flexible premises for business, and opening the store has also enabled the organization of various workshops and events. The workshops create a sense of community and shed light on Hetkinen’s model of operation and production process.

“As a manufacturing company, we want to tell our customers how and why we have chosen certain raw materials.” The company’s philosophy includes high quality and attention to detail.

“With our new premises, we can present our products in the way we want, according to our vision.”
