As companies grow, their needs change. This has also happened to Solita, operating in Innova 1 in Lutakko, which is moving to larger premises within the same property.
The massive file cabinets and private offices of the past millennium have become history as companies have begun to value solutions that support versatility and sense community in their offices as the ways of working have evolved. Kielo’s Innova properties in Jyväskylä offer diverse and high-quality office premises that serve the changing ways of working. Sometimes companies’ needs change, for example, as they grow. This has also happened to Solita, operating in Innova 1 in Lutakko, Jyväskylä.
Solita has grown from a small firm founded by software developers into an IT service company employing over 2000 people internationally.
“Impact and value creation in today’s networked world is Solita’s mission, meaning we do all kinds of things that customers need for digital service development,” says Janne Kaartinen, Solita’s office manager in Jyväskylä.
Solita originally operated in Tampere, Helsinki, and Oulu, but the COVID-19 pandemic made work location-independent. Kaartinen says that recruitments began to be made from all over Finland, and as the pandemic subsided, the need for new offices in different cities, such as Jyväskylä, arose.
Moving to larger premises within the building
The need for space at Solita’s Jyväskylä office has grown significantly, and now the company’s goal is to move to larger premises within the same building by the end of this year.
“In Jyväskylä, it is clearly visible that after the pandemic, people want to come to the office and hang out with their colleagues.” The need for space is also increased by the fact that Solita has customers all over Finland – and Europe. The possibilities for remote work have increased, and nowadays Solita employees work less and less often in customers’ premises, thus needing their own office premises to meet colleagues. “We have less of this ‘temporary workforce type’ work than before, which means that we need our own office,” Kaartinen explains.
“We have been in this current office for two years. Now we need a space that is twice as large. I believe that Kielo can offer a solution in the future as well, if we continue to grow at the same pace.”
Acquiring our own office premises is not an option, as flexibility is required in both directions. “Our largest office is in Tampere, but the need for office premises there has decreased after the pandemic, even though the number of employees has increased.”
“In Jyväskylä, it is clearly visible that after the pandemic,
people want to come to the office and hang out with their colleagues.”
Office supporting hybrid work
Solita’s wide geographical area of operation also means that the ways of working have changed. “The need for office premises is now different than before because everyone needs functional space for remote meetings and, on the other hand, for work that requires concentration during the workday – small meeting rooms and phone booths are needed daily.”
“Everything starts with culture; we try to maintain the Solita work vibe and way of doing things, which has meant investing heavily in office premises.”
Solita particularly requires flexibility from its office premises. “Kielo has been able to meet these needs well.”
Solita’s office is centrally located in Lutakko, Jyväskylä. “Lutakko is easily accessible from many directions, and Kielo also has parking space here. The employees of the Jyväskylä office live in a wide area, so it is convenient that the parking garage is right next to the office spaces.”
The location of Innova 1 is also ideal for public transport users. “The location is perfect, right next to the train station. This makes it easier to travel between different offices.”
