Efficiency and savings with renewable energy sources

Kielo implements energy projects to minimize the environmental impact of premises and properties.

At Kielo, energy projects for properties improve building energy efficiency and reduce costs as well as environmental impact.

Kielo aims to increase the use of renewable energy sources in its properties. For example, an energy project implemented at the Yrittäjänkulma property in Tampere has reduced the property’s annual purchased energy needs by up to 40%.

Kielo extensively carries out energy efficiency projects, such as the development and modernization of heating, ventilation, lighting, and other building systems.

“We undertake energy projects in Kielo’s properties to minimize the environmental impact of premises and properties. About ten such projects have been carried out. Examples of Kielo’s energy projects include the renewal and enhancement of ventilation, the upgrading and improvement of technical system controls, as well as solar power and geothermal projects,” says Kielo’s Sustainability manager Max Nybondas.

Good planning ensures a smooth energy renovation

In the preliminary stages of energy projects, the current energy consumption and technical condition of the property, as well as potential savings targets, are analyzed. This is important to assess the feasibility of the project and any challenges that may be associated with its implementation.

“The goal of energy projects is to save energy and reduce the property’s carbon footprint, which also brings cost savings,” says Nybondas.

Projects vary due to their objectives and the types of properties involved. The specific characteristics of each project must be considered already in the planning phase. For example, in solar panel projects, the condition and load-bearing capacity of the roof must be checked before the project can proceed.

Finnish employers increasingly expect responsibility from their premises, and Kielo regularly discusses the development of premises with customers. Carefully prepared energy projects in collaboration bring long-term savings as energy consumption becomes more efficient.

In improvement projects, Kielo works closely with customers and project implementers. The result is more energy-efficient premises and properties, places for good work.
